Wynwood Art District: A Hub for Artists and Tourists Alike
Through the years Miami has gone through many phases to improve it’s tourism department and bring in money for the state and county to improve itself up upon. Today there is the neighborhood or Wynwood, a mega art district in the Miami Dade community which has brought many artists together to show off their best pieces and creations to the thousands of tourists every day.
In the Wynwood community has grown upon Wynwood Walls, a rather new extension to the already existing Wynwood area which is a space where artists from all over the globe have come to display their best and hearty creations on these walls. “I remember a good ten to fifteen years ago when Wynwood was just starting up, the area was not in its best shape. Lots of homeless presence and not a lot of people wanted to come. With the addition to the Walls at inside Wynwood it brings a new vibe to the area which created this new community inside of a community kind of thing which is not only good for the area, but for the hard working artists”, said Peter Santa Maria, an Art Teacher at CCHS. In addition to the walls being a great place to spend a day as a tourist, but it also has contributed to many local and international artists alike.
The Wynwood area along with the Wynwood Walls area in the district will continue to bring many to South Florida to see the art masterpieces displayed there. It has become the place for worldwide and national artists to come in and showcase their work for years to come.
