The Dynasty Lives on
The term “Road to States” is what keeps the average wrestler motivated to strive for the State Championship meet. This year, the Columbus Wrestling team is taking seven wrestlers to States. The Columbus Wrestling team has gone above and beyond this season. They have gone through it all, to get to where they are now. The Columbus Wrestling team this year will try their best to bring home the Gold at States this weekend.
The Columbus Wrestling team will be taking the following wrestlers to States: 106- Gavin Buck

The Faculty and Staff at Christopher Columbus High School are very proud of our wrestling team. Compared to last season, we have made a big improvement this year. This year, we had seven wrestlers place top four in the region. Last year, we only had five out of the fourteen wrestlers go to States.
This season, the wrestling team was able to tie their “Dual Team” wins at 35 wins as a team. The wrestling team went to fifteen tournaments. Some wrestlers have had an exceptional year. Ryan Doll was the team Senior Captain this year. He made sure the wrestlers were always in check when it came down to stretching and drilling before matches.
The Columbus Wrestling team has had their ups and downs this season. The Explorers lost two seniors due to injuries. However, that didn’t stop them from achieving their mission. Not once did they ever back down from any team. They made sure that any person they would wrestle would say to themselves “Oh no, it’s that Columbus kid again”. They always gave their 100% every match and would always come out on top.
This season, the team came out the district strong taking eleven guys to regions. Then, came regions and the team was going to face hard teams such as: South Dade, Southwest, and Southridge. Unfortunately, the Explorers were only able to push seven guys to States. Lucky for them, the Columbus Family was there to support them all the way to States. Not once did the team lose faith in their teammates.
Overall, the Columbus Wrestling team had an outstanding season as a team. They faced their challenges head on and accomplished their goal. They will now be competing for the gold at the State meet. Next year, the wrestling team will be better as the team is full with 60+ wrestlers including JV and Varsity. The Columbus Wrestling organization will be getting better, always bringing in new competitors each year.
