While the Explorer family is on summer vacation, CCNN Live’s team has been hard at work running a two-week summer camp for middle school students and incoming freshmen. Students of CCNN Live’s Summer Institute spent this week learning the ins and outs of the broadcast journalism world, including the keys to a successful live broadcast and the basics of a news package.
In Mr. Delgado’s class, campers worked together to master the editing tools we use at CCNN Live to cover a news story on campus at Christopher Columbus High School. Students also discovered the art of DSLR videography with Matthew Ley, former President of CCNN Live and a journalism student at George Washington University.
David Perez, former CCNN Live President and University of Miami student, guided students as they gained experience anchoring a full broadcast. Behind the scenes, Anthony Martinez, current CCNN President and Columbus senior, helped students master the equipment that runs our show every day, including cameras, lighting systems, teleprompters, and the TriCaster live suite.
